Healing Circles Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions for the Healing Circles program. Please reach us at healingcircles.naacp2069@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question below.

Race-Based Traumatic Stress is a form of trauma arising from racial experiences, including racism, discrimination, and prejudice.

RBTS can result from personal experiences, exposure through media, hearsay, or historical trauma passed through generations.

RBTS significantly affects mental and emotional well-being.  People can experience anger, depression, anxiety, and sadness because of experiences of racism. Addressing RBTS supports healing and coping with racism's effects

Racial Healing aims to acknowledge past wrongs due to systemic racism; foster trust; and build authentic relationships while addressing current consequences.

Healing Circles offer a secure space for sharing stories, experiences, and emotions about racism. These Circles create a welcoming and inclusive environment, providing tools and resources for healing.

Healing Circles involve group interactions and intimate conversations, fostering intentional listening. Conversations can lead to emotional, even transformational experiences, promoting awareness, consciousness, compassion, and empathy.

Trained Racial Healing Circle practitioners lead sessions, ensuring participants engage in confidential, truthful conversations within safe spaces.

All sessions are moderated. If anyone engages in harmful and/or disrespectful language they will be removed from the circles.  The space is designed only for those who identify as BIPoC or AAPI.

You can participate, even if you do not want to talk.  Being present you still may experience the benefit of attending a circle.

Anyone ages 13-17 can attend the adolescent Healing Circles. Individuals 18 and older can attend the adult Healing Circles.  The Circles are for folks who identify as either BIPoC or AAPI.

We will hold them online.

Sessions are free.

Go to the main Healing Circles page.  You will find a link to sign up.  Then just fill out the form, type in your name and verify your age.

Yes, please.  That way we will know if we have enough spaces available.

You can sign up for as many as you want.

You can join any Healing Circle at any time they are offered throughout the year.

We cannot at this time.  We don’t have any facilitators who speak other languages yet.  We hope that will change.

You can sign up any time of the month before a Healing Circle including the day of a Healing Circle.  Once you sign up you should get a zoom link.

Don't forget to fill out and send the Informed Concent Form below to our Registration Headquarters.
